We've gathered our favourite facts from the RWA's history. So did you know...

 

Each of our Walter Crane lunettes represents an artistic discipline: painting, craftsmanship, architecture and sculpture. These are the 'four pillars' of the RWA.

 

During World War I all wounded soldiers and nurses were given free entry to the exhibitions, and Military given use of some rooms of the RWA.

 

The RWA building was used as a film set for the BBC programme 'Chloe' in 2021, using the 168th Annual Open Exhibition as its backdrop.
