Creative Christmas Advent Calendar: Lino Cuts

RWA Drawing School tutor Sam Church shared her idea for an inexpensive, hand-made Christmas present...

'This year, I have created hand-printed sketchbooks for cheap pressies. I lino-printed these simple designs onto A6 sketchbooks (which I bought from Bristol Fine Art) using water-based student grade Block Printing Ink…alas the ink doesn't dry waterproof but it dries quickly!'

'If you're not a lino-printer or haven't got the kit, potato prints or drawing with a felt tip get decent results too. Really it's all about a simple design and some added sparkle! Once the design had dried I got a helper to paint a thin layer of PVA on to selected bits of the picture, and sprinkle a bit of glitter on it. Bingo!'
