1-day workshop

Tuesday 9 December, 10.30am - 4.30pm

This packed day will emphasise experimentation, keeping your painting style loose and animated, exploiting the way different watercolour pigments behave. 

Painting directly from a life model in the studio, we will look at building tonal variation to suggest three dimensional figures in watercolour by contrasting expressive washes with flashes of white paper and thick paint straight from the tube. Practice sketching to discover human proportions and lively mark-making.

In the afternoon, move to a longer painting on rigid board, layering and lifting paint. There will be demos and discussion to help you discover human proportions and perspective.

All basic materials provided, although you are welcome to bring your own watercolours and brushes if you have them. Suitable for those with some previous figure drawing/painting experience.

Please bring an apron or wear clothes suitable for an art studio, and bring a bag suitable for taking your work home.

Refund/transfer and Cancellation Policy: We are unable to offer full or part cash refunds, but you are eligible for an RWA gift voucher or transfer, minus an admin fee*, provided you notify us more than 14 days before the start of your class with us. If we cancel a course or workshop for any reason, then participants will be offered a different date, course/workshop or RWA gift voucher. 

*Admin fee for courses £25, Admin fee for workshops £15
