Dennis left school at 14 to work in lithographic printing and soon discovered his true passion for art. In this painting, the rain shows connotations of darkness linked to our theme: light and dark. The rain may symbolise a bad experience in someone’s life whereas the landscape in the background is quite bright which could mean that sometimes it doesn’t always have to be dark in sad times. The window in the painting also links to many people's personal experiences of being stuck inside in recent times and how this can be stressful and worrying.
