Junior Drawing School - Portrait Collage with Kate Newington
1 June 2022
Wednesday 1st June 2022 11am – 1pm
Artist Kate Newington will lead a collage portrait-making workshop inspired by early twentieth century Cubist collages and the ways in which artists see and portray themselves as seen in ‘Me, Myself, I: Artists’ Self-Portraits’, an exhibition that will be showing at the RWA between 2nd May – 19 June 2022.
Kate has been working in collage for many years. She makes large-scale figurative paintings, and collage portraits and still life paintings to commission.
Participants should bring along a large, hard copy (A4) full-face photo of themselves and, if possible, a few photos of objects that have some significance for them. This is not essential but would be very useful in the making of their portrait. Magazines and other papers for collage will be provided.
Suitable for 7-12 year olds.
Parents/Carers must remain in the building but are encouraged to enjoy the café, galleries and RWA shop while their children are in the workshop. Parents/Carers will receive complimentary exhibition entry.
Limited places available - booking required.
