Explore the process of turning your drawings into paintings in an experimental and supportive atmosphere. We will work in the studio and out on location. Day 1. Studio - Prepare sketchbook surfaces and develop painted sketches from artists’ drawings. This will help to make clearer the kind of drawings you will want to make once outside. Days 2 and 3 are at various locations in the city. Draw using a range of materials, including colourOn Day 4 – Studio - Make paintings over a whole day in acrylic from the information we have gathered. Please bring a sketchbook to the first session.

Buying as a gift?

When buying a course or workshop you will be automatically emailed a confirmation which you can print off and include in a card for your loved one. Gift vouchers can also be bought if you aren't sure which course they would prefer. Venues

This class will be taking place both at the RWA and off-site at a number of different locations across the city, the locations and precise meet up locations will be shared by email in advance.

Materials

There will be a variety of materials in the studio, and when you are offsite, the tutor will bring along some new materials for you to try out each week, however, you will need to provide the following yourself:

  • Sketchbook - A4 or A3, but A5 would work as a supplementary sketchbook. Please bring each week
  • Pencils (recommend any grade from B - 6B) - weeks 2 and 3
  • Rubber - weeks 2 and 3
  • Pencil sharpener - weeks 2 and 3
  • Optional - plus any preferred drawing media such as biros, fine-liners, coloured pencils, charcoal) - weeks 2 and 3

Participants must be 18 or over.

If eligible, discounts must be applied when first purchasing your class and cannot be given retrospectively. Please contact us if the discount code is not working.

    If you have a disability, learning difficulty or mental health issue which you feel may affect your participation in your chosen class, please either email drawingschool@rwa.org.uk or call , prior to booking, so we are aware of any needs you may have.

    Refund/transfer and Cancellation Policy: We are unable to offer full or part cash refunds, but you are eligible for an RWA gift voucher or transfer, minus an admin fee*, provided you notify us more than 14 days before the start of your class. If we cancel a course or workshop for any reason, then participants will be offered a different date, course/workshop or RWA gift voucher. 

    *Admin fee for courses £25, Admin fee for workshops £15
