From Our Perspective
12 September - 5 November 2023
This exhibition showcases painting, drawing, print and collage made by the neurodivergent young people and disabled children attending RWA Happy Mondays programme. The artwork on display is the result of partner school groups enjoying artist-led workshops. These were often reactive and co-designed with the young people, adapting to their learning needs and interests. As well as responding to the gallery exhibitions, some children who were not able to make trips to the RWA were given the chance to explore our Handling Collection (sculptures and paintings from the RWA stores that can be taken to schools and community venues, seen up close and handled).
Children of all ages participated from our partner schools: Venturers Academy, Briarwood School, Claremont School, Pathways Learning Centre (PRU - pupil referral unit) and Bristol Hospital Education Service.
Some of the workshops they enjoyed took place in the RWA main galleries and the work produced responds to the exhibitions they explored.
These workshops are part of our Learning & Participation programme and are currently made possible by funding granted by the Art Fund.
