This class is free to attend although you will need to register in order to be sent the Zoom details.

This September, Drawing School tutor Jonathan Farr will be teaching a 5 week online Beginners Drawing course designed to build confidence, develop core drawing skills, and encourage a fresh way of seeing your immediate surroundings. This friendly and informal 1 hour taster session, aimed at beginners, offers an introduction to Jonathan's engaging teaching style and approach to drawing. No prior experience is needed, just bring some paper and your preferred drawing materials and be ready to give it a try.

The session is completely free, but places are limited, so advance booking is essential to secure your spot. Whether you're curious about drawing, looking to develop a new creative habit, or considering joining the full course, we'd love to welcome you.


The session will take place on Zoom, and you will need to provide;
  • an object - a vegetable (garlic, broccolli, cabbage)... an animal skull, a leaf, a twig, a shell, coral, a plant, tree bark...
  • a pencil preferably 2B or softer
  • paper
  • masking tape
  • a lamp
  • table to work on
  • a device on which you can use Zoom, with a working camera and microphone. You do not need to have a Zoom account.

Participants will receive an email in advance of the session containing Zoom details and any necessary additional information. The Zoom session will start 15 minutes before the advertised start time, to ensure all participants have logged on successfully and feel ready for the session.
