WHY BE A MEMBER?
It would be a great honour to be awarded Academician status at a gallery and organization I respect and admire.
Just as I enjoy being part of the community of artists in Stroud where we meet regularly for crits, for drawing and for short talks, I would like to expand that sense of community to Bristol and the West country more generally. The journey from Stroud only took me 45 minutes last time I came to collect my drawing from the Annual Open.
Working more regularly and closely with other neighbouring artists is tremendously stimulating and educational, opening up the potential for new influences, new opportunities for exhibiting and of course for making new friends.
I hope that it would give me opportunities to contribute to the art scene in the west country:
HOW CAN I CONTRIBUTE?
I have an art teacher’s qualification from Goldsmiths, University of London and have taught art in colleges, schools and workshop arenas regularly throughout my life. I’d be happy to contribute with an occasional workshop on Drawing in the Expanded Field, or alternatively life drawing, of which I have done a great deal.
I would be happy to give short talks, or to be involved in any question and answer sessions. I’d be honoured and delighted to be on a judging panel, I can give lifts to other artists from Stroud. Essentially I’m keen to be involved.
