The RWA is England’s regional Royal Academy of Art. At its core are a group of artists and architects – Academicians – who are at the forefront of their profession.   

Applications to become an Academician are welcomed from artists and architects with a proven track record in their field. Practitioners working in any discipline or medium are eligible to apply, including those working in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, architecture, photography, performance, installation, film and video. Applications are open to all and are assessed each year. 

The Candidates being considered for election are invited to exhibit their work in this exhibition. This gives visitors and Academicians the opportunity to encounter the range and quality of their practice. Selection for the Candidates Exhibition is a significant achievement, and we congratulate these artists.
