Ann Christopher

Ann Christopher studied at Harrow School of Art and the West of England College of Art. Primarily a sculptor with works on paper and prints being an integral part of her practice. Winning numerous prizes and awards including a Peter Stuyvesant Award, Arts Council Award and recipient of an Arts Council Grant enabled her to produce sculptures in her preferred medium of cast metal early in her career.

Ann Christopher was elected a member of the Royal Academy in 1980, a fellow of the Royal Society of Sculptors in 1992 and an Honorary member of the Royal West of England Academy in 2023.

Commissions have included a 5.5m Corten steel sculpture in Portishead; 4.8m Corten steel in Plymouth; a 3m bronze for a private garden in Great Barrington, USA; 4.6m bronze in Castle Park, Bristol. More recently a 2m bronze for the Ruwenzori Sculpture Park in Uganda and a bronze award for the Women’s Non-Fiction Prize. She has works in numerous public and private collections including British Museum; Contemporary Art Society; Corcoran Legacy Collection, Washington DC; Gruss & Co, NY; Linklaters, London; Pallant House Gallery, Chichester; Parabola Art Collection, Edinburgh; Royal Academy, London
