Founded by William the Conqueror, Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. It has been home to 40 monarchs and is rich in history and treasures. The Castle holds works from one of the greatest art collections in the world, including paintings by Holbein, van Dyck and Rubens.  The State Apartments, used today by the Royal Family, are magnificent and visiting St George’s Chapel, location for royal weddings and funerals, is a special experience.

The timing of the visit means that we can also walk the hedge-lined pathways of the Venus Garden, on the East Terrace of the Castle. Newly designed after the planet’s rose-shaped orbit, it reflects the King’s vision to offer year-round beauty, interest and biodiversity.
As well as the visit to the castle, we should have some free time in Windsor and Eton before we head home.
