By popular request, the Friends of the RWA Trips and Visits Committee is offering another self-led Christmas trip to Oxford!

Enjoy a day exploring Oxford’s varied exhibitions: visit the ancient world with Aphrodite at the Ashmolean; consider colonialism through the eyes of an Indian girl at the Pitt Rivers; enjoy the latest in immersive installations at the Modern Art Gallery.

And there will be time for a leisurely lunch, some Christmas shopping or a glass of mulled wine in the covered market.

Ashmolean Museum, Aphrodite, the Making of a Goddess - an exhibition bringing together archaeology, sculpture, painting, contemporary art and fashion.

Modern Art Gallery - Mike Nelson, Double Negative (the clown) The Guardian review  - 5 stars  “Big ambitious immersive, complex and very very good”.  Mike Nelson is known for his installations, using materials and objects gathered from every day life.

Pitt Rivers Museum – An exhibition telling the story of Gaidinliu, a Naga girl captured by the British in 1932. Her posessions are on display for the first time in 80 years, including a response from the present day Naga community in North East India.
