Agenda and attractions:
You will be based at the 4-star Pullman Hotel, near the historic Dockside, Pier Head and Museum of Liverpool. The hotel is within easy reach of the Albert Dock and the city centre, including the World Museum with its global collections, aquarium and planetarium; the impressive St George’s Hall; and the Walker Art Gallery, which has been described as “The National Gallery of the North”.
Beatles fans can visit Mathew Street, home of the Cavern Club and the Beatles Museum, or admire the group sculpture of the Fab Four at the Pier Head, where you can continue your musical journey by taking a “Ferry across the Mersey” within sight of the iconic Liver Birds. For rest, refreshment and retail therapy, there is Liverpool One, with its many shops, cafes and rooftop recreational space.
Travelling by coach, you will break the outward journey with a lunchtime stop at the award-winning King Richard III Centre in Leicester, and your return journey at the World of Wedgwood in Barlaston, Staffordshire (home to the V&A Wedgwood collection).
During your time in Liverpool you will spend a day at Port Sunlight, the beautifully preserved village built by William Lever for his factory workers, where you can see over 900 Arts and Crafts buildings, find out the history of Port Sunlight and visit the Lady Lever Gallery, which houses one of the UK’s best collections of fine and decorative art.
There will also be optional visits to Anthony Gormley's 'Another Place' installation on Crosby Beach, and to the Anglican and Metropolitan cathedrals with their hugely contrasting architectural styles. However, because there is so much to see in Liverpool, the rest of the time will be free for you to make your own choices. We'll provide plenty of information!
What's included in the cost?
The cost of your trip includes return coach travel with Turners; 4 nights’ dinner, bed and breakfast at the Pullman Hotel; entry to King Richard III Centre and Port Sunlight Museum; a light lunch at King Richard III Centre and World of Wedgwood; and optional coach travel to the Cathedrals and ‘Another Place’. World of Wedgwood, the Lady Lever Gallery and most of the Liverpool museums and galleries are free of charge to visit.
How do I book and what happens next?
Places will be allocated on a “First come, first served” basis. This is likely to be a very popular trip, so you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
Use this page to select your deposit ticket option, as either a FRWA member or non member. If you are experiencing issues with this webpage, you can also book in person via the RWA Welcome Desk. We are no longer able to process payment by cheque.
You will receive confirmation of your payment automatically from the RWA. The T&V organiser for this trip will then be in contact within a week of your booking to organise further details with you. We will also send you a reminder and details of payment options when your balance is due.
