Terri Hogan

Although I live in a very beautiful part of Somerset my work takes me to the rugged, untamed landscapes of the Penwith and the Lizard in Cornwall with their huge expanses of sky, sea and landscape. Walking the cliffs is central to my practice and I work directly from the cliff tops and beaches that I encounter, usually these drawings and observations are worked in my sketch books, but frequently I work directly onto prepared canvas, board and paper at the location. I strive to capture a 'moment in time', so sights, sounds, changing light and weather are recorded, these experiences that impinge upon my consciousness: be it the land, the sea, the changing light and weather, buzzards high in the sky or choughs on the fringes of a cliff, all become majorly influential in the completed paintings.
