Vera Boele-Keimer

Vera's work explores the materiality of painting. In her works she plays with possible relationships between the support and surface of a painting. Intuitive sequences of process transform a "ground" and blur the boundaries between drawing, sculpture and painting.

Vera studied English and History at Münster University and Fine Art at the Academy of Art in Münster, Germany. She gained an MFA from Bath Spa University. Vera lives in Bristol and has been a lecturer at Bristol School of Art for many years. Working from her studio at Jamaica Street Studios in Bristol, she has been invited to several artist residencies: at the Nelimarrka Museum in Finland, at the Kunstnerverksteder Trondheim, at Thread in Sinthian, Senegal, and most recently at the Albers Foundation in CT, USA.
