RWA Staff Go the Extra Mile for Tuesday Tea-Time Tours
This July three RWA staff members, Fran, Ren and Sarah, are taking part in a team-sprint-triathlon to raise money for the Teatime Tours at the RWA - an art programme supporting both people living with dementia and their carers. The trio are aiming to raise £1000 to support these sessions.
Dementia touches so many families, including those of our own staff team. We sadly know how difficult and isolating it can be - not just for the person living with dementia, but also for the people who love them. Fran, Visitor Experience and Venue Hire Manager
Tea-Time Tours
Teatime tours run monthly on a Tuesday. A specialist art facilitator welcomes a group for the tours and they, along with their carers, explore the artwork, enjoy some craft activities and finish it all off with a cup of tea, cake, and conversation. We know that the sessions have a positive impact on people, with attendees sharing that being able to visit a gallery again makes them feel welcome and part of the ’RWA Family’.
A registered charity, the RWA must raise over £2500 each year to support these sessions and keep them free to attend for all participants. The money the team raise will go directly to supporting the programme and could:
- £500 will pay for bespoke Dementia friendly art material along with tea and cake for a year
- £1000 will pay for specialist facilitators for six-months
- £2500 will pay for the programme for a whole year
