Join us for a morning lecture with Academician Lucy Austin.

Lucy is a painter and printmaker based at Mivart Studios in Bristol. Her work uses structures from urban architecture as a starting point, and combines them with small domestic objects like lemon squeezers and whisks.

"There are often two different images in my drawings and I see these as working in opposition and as metaphors for relationships showing different types of curious human behavior – which I am fascinated by. These different ‘personages’ may or may not be communicating or signaling in someway with one another (...) I hope they are funny, odd, ambiguous and familiar all at once."

Over the past twenty years Lucy has experimented with different ways of making drawings; for example exploring the idea of temporary installations made out of paper both inside and in the landscape. In this morning talk, Lucy will discuss her work, inspirations and answer your questions.
