Tutor - Francesca Berlingieri Maxwell

This is a wonderful opportunity to spend 10 weeks immersed in the painting technique used by the old masters. From Caravaggio to Vermeer, to Toulouse-Lautrec, many painters have used tonal contrast to quickly build depth and volume from a dark background to the highlights. Students will create multiple samples to prepare them for recreating a detail from a work by an old master on canvas. Re-trace the steps of an old master and learn to prepare the canvas, create preliminary sketches, transfer the drawing to canvas, and how to build the volume and colour through layers of paint. For speed of drying acrylic paint will be used.
