A move to the edge of the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire has prompted this latest series of paintings by Peter Wiltshire, drawing inspiration as they do from the unique nature of the Downs - an open rolling landscape evoking past ages with its prehistoric earthworks, stone circles and chalk white horses.

These paintings are not meant to be purely representational, but rather to evoke in them and for the viewer sense of the inherent mystery and timelessness that seems to bring out the surreal elements of this ancient landscape.
