FILIPPO LIPPI: VOWS BROKEN, TALENT FULFILLED.

Filippo Lippi, who is perhaps a less well-known painter than some, had a brilliant talent and a florid personal life and was the master of Botticelli. Following a liaison with a nun, Lippi had a son who in turn became a famous painter who was trained by his father’s pupil. Whilst less well known perhaps than Botticelli, his images are stunningly beautiful. This talk discusses some of the more controversial aspects of Lippi’s life, and some of the myths that surround it. Whilst concentrating on his art and style, we also discuss his influence on other painters.
