From the success of our last exhibition publication, we are pleased to offer visitors a brand new title exclusively produced for the next series of exhibitions here at the RWA. 'Brothers in Arms: John and Paul Nash and the Aftermath of the Great War', written by curator Paul Gough and with a text from RWA Exhibitions Manager, Gemma Brace, this book explores the work of the two brothers; their family roots in London and Buckinghamshire; the difficult and dark days of their schooling; their divergent early careers and time in the trenches; the moments when they came together to share a show or studio, and also the long periods where their fortune fared so differently, Paul to achieve international recognition as a Modern artist as well as a profoundly English one, while John went quietly about his southern haunts painting the countryside, studying plants and diligently engraving dozens of illustrations.
We are pleased to offer this publication at a special exhibition price of £15 (RRP £16.50).
Please call 0117 973 5129 to order yours now, we also offer postal delivery at the price of £2.00 First Class, £1.60 Economy.

NEW Maker of the Moment
We are pleased to showcase the beautiful work of local craft professionals Ava & Bea. Ava & Bea was the result of a love of beautiful patterns and texture, a keen interest in design; of the possibilities of materials, and lots of experimenting with making things. Since their launch in 2012, they have aimed to bring something a little bit different to their customers. They have a workshop just down the road from home, and make everything themselves. Their combination of vintage inspired, contemporary design, with a love of mixing materials new and old, mean that they are never stuck for new ideas. Pop in to the shop to see our two glass cabinets filled with their beautiful work, ideal for a thoughtful, original gift or to treat yourself.Featured Printmaker: Sophie Rae
Sophie Rae’s work has been created using a small durathene roller and ink. A technique she has been developing since University. There are a number of stages to her process, which she equally enjoys. After the inspiration has hit and the image decided it all starts with a sketch. This sketch is then cut into separate pieces, so eventually each part of the original sketch is a stencil. These stencils are then placed onto a fresh sheet of smooth paper and the apron is put on. Now the printing begins. With a roller in one hand and often some music in her ears Sophie mixes new colours and applies them to the paper using her roller. Her stencils are there to mask off areas of the paper, just like a screen print. So she applies ink in the spaces of her stencils, gradually building up the image in this way until you get what you see here today.
A spontaneous and exciting way to work, it has immediate results and can be used to create very simple or very complex monoprints.
Sophie Rae has also worked as Artist in Residence at Chhaap Printmaking Studios in Baroda, India, for a month in 2013. Here she produced a series of prints inspired by her trip around the country, some of the landscapes you can purchase here.
Sophie works from her studio in Hamilton House and teaches her technique too. To find out more about her workshops and techniques or if you have any other questions or comments you can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org
