Thorie was born on the Canadian Prairies and received her Masters of Fine Arts(Honours) in 1982 from the University of Windsor, Ontario. She arrived in Great Britain in 1993, moving to Exeter in 1999.
'In my work, I attempt to leave myself open to the world of experiences and to reflect on the discoveries and explorations of my past and present. Each painting is a forum to explore the more abstract process of personal mark-making.'
