This year we have eleven artists who have made it through to the final round of selection to become Royal West of England Academicians (RWAs).
The candidates are: Anouk Mercier, Anthony Garratt, Day Bowman, Helen Booth, Ian Middleton, Janie George, Judith Jones, Karen Wallis, Laurie Steen, Lucy Austin, and Toni Davey
Academicians are elected on the basis that they are practising artists or architects of ability and experience, and are professionally active in the UK. The RWA’s categories of art are: painting, printmaking, sculpture and architecture. Applicants should be high-calibre artists making challenging work with a strong level of commitment to developing their practice. They should be represented by galleries with strong national and international reputations, or work with contemporary art organisations and engage in publicly-funded art projects. They must have graduated at least three years prior to applying and have connections with the region. This year there are 4 spaces available.
Academicians can either vote in person at the RWA by visiting the reception desk in the foyer and requesting a voting slip, or this year they can also vote by email by emailing email@example.com. In due course, it will be possible to view each candidate’s submitted work, CV and artist statement just by clicking on their name on their name above. Voting will only become open once it is possible to view the candidates' work by clicking on their name above.
If you are visiting the exhibition please note that you can find all the candidates work exhibited on the lower ground floor in the Cube Gallery and adjoining space.
