| Pam
Pebworth worked in a textile studio in Manchester before training as an
artist and teacher at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham, Wiltshire from 1951
to 1954. She then worked as an art and craft teacher for twenty years. |

| In
1974 she retrained at West Dean College, Chichester, on the British Antique
Dealers' Association Diploma Course in antique furniture restoration. She
is a member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and a member of the Kenn Group
of Artists and President of the Tiverton Art Society. She exhibits with
all of these institutions on a regular basis as well as the RWA. |

| In
1988 Pam Pebworth started wood engraving and in 1993 was elected a member
of the Society of Wood Engravers. She has won two awards from the Exeter
Art Society and in 1994 won the Gordon L. Tuffrey Award in the RWA Open
Printmakers Exhibition. In 1995 she had a solo exhibition at the Royal Albert
Memorial Museum & Art Gallery in Exeter. |

| Commenting
on the many influences which have had an influence on her understanding
and appreciation of art she notes that Paul Nash, Eric Ravilious and Edward
Bawden were significant as three artist/printmakers. Illustrators that she
cites are Arthur Rackham, Heath Robinson, Eric Fraser, Edward Ardizzone
and Robin Jaques. |

her capacity as wood engraver she names Eric Gill, Gertrude Hermes and Gwenda
Morgan amongst others as sources of artistic influence. |
