| Ian
Black received his Teaching and Art Diploma from Bristol University. He
has lectured to several Art Societies in the South West and was for many
years a member of Cambridge Syndicate for A-Level and Art Convenor to SEAC. |

| He
is a regular exhibitor to the RWA and RA and has work in numerous permanent
collections such as The New Zealand Government, St Catherine's College Oxford,
Bristol Cathedral School and Bath University. |

| In
1994 he was a prizewinner at the Millfield Invitation Exhibition and in
1995 held exhibitions at the Bruton Street Gallery London, the Arlesford
Gallery and the Bristol Guild. |

| Ian
Black's chosen theme is that of landscape, though he does not record it
so much as use it as a point of departure for his visual preoccupations.
He is most interested in rhythms of the land, in its interlocking shapes
of escarpment, headland and seashore. He often uses collage material in
conjunction with oil and acrylic paint. |
