Flattely trained at Edinburgh College of Art from 1945 to 1951 and then
qualified as a teacher of Art from Moray House, Edinburgh Provisional Training
Centre in 1952. He |

has won several scholarships and prizes including the Andrew Grant Travelling
Scholarship and the Andrew Grant Fellowship and in 1982 the Shell
Expro Prize from the Aberdeen Artists Society. |

| Alastair
Flattely taught at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen from 1955 to 1959 and
in 1964 became Vice-Principal and Head of Fine Art at Gloucestershire College
of Art and Design that he held until 1972. He returned to Aberdeen in 1972
becoming Head of Grays School of Art. |

has held solo exhibitions at Aberdeen University in 1974, The Scottish Gallery
Edinburgh in 1980 and the Rendevous Gallery Aberdeen in 1988 and 1990. In
1992 he was included in a group show at the RWA that featured nine artist
members. He has also shown at Roland Browse and Delbanco in London, the
Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, the Royal Academy and the Royal
Scottish Academy. |
