FRWA CULTURAL GROUP TRIPS 2014

A visit to the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff, followed by Castell Coch, just north of Cardiff. Cardiff Museum contains one of the finest art collections in Europe. Five hundred years of magnificent paintings, drawings, sculpture, silver and ceramics. There are examples of impressionist and modern art, with paintings by Monet, Millet, Rodin, Cezanne and others.
Castell Coch (The Red Castle) just north of Cardiff, is a ‘folly’ built in 1870 for the 3rd Marquess of Bute, who by the 1860s was reputed to be the richest man in the world. The Victorian architect and ‘eccentric genius’ William Burges was given free rein by the 3rd Marquess of Bute, to create a rural retreat to complement the opulence of his main residence, Cardiff Castle.
ITINERARY: Coach departs from All Saints Church, Pembroke Road, Clifton at 9.30am to arrive in Cardiff at approx. 10.45 am Lunch will be available at Cardiff Museum and we will leave for Castell Coch at around 2.00 p.m. Castell Coch closes at 4.00 pm. The coach will depart at 4.30pm to return to Bristol approx. 6.00 pm.
The cost of the trip is £22 per person, which includes the driver's gratuity.
