| James
Bruges was brought up and educated in Kashmir until 1945 when he arrived
in England to attend Kelly College in Devon later going on to the Architectural
Association. Following his training he worked in the Sudan with Trevor Dannett. |

| In
1973 with Howard Tozer he formed the Bruges Tozer Partnership. Avon House
North that bridges Stokes Croft is indicative of his work with Howard Tozer.
Social Housing has been a major interest and he won an award for the Orlebar
Gardens for Bristol City Council. |

| He
has also designed flats and houses in Calne, Wiltshire and Trinity Place
in Hotwells, Bristol. The largest project handled by his practice is the
completion of the new Headquarters for the Avon & Somerset Constabulary,
set in 40 acres at Portishead. |
