Artwork of the Month: August20 Jul 17
August's Artwork of the Month has been chosen by Lucy Austin RWA.
My work explores layers of emotional experience that we absorb physically and it is informed by the landscape we inhabit. In particular forms and structures in the urban landscape such as pylons, windmills and spiral staircases, these are starting points for the pictures, which are transformed by my imagination.
Lucy has shown her work widely including as part of a survey of British Contemporary Watercolour, Maidstone Museum & Art Gallery (2015) touring to The Oriel Gallery, Antrim, Northern Ireland (2016) and Burton Museum & Art Gallery, Bideford (2016) curated by Simon Carter; The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, Mall Galleries, London (2016, 2015), The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, London (2014) and The Jerwood Drawing Prize, London and UK tour (2010, 2008 and 2007).
