What’s it all about Alfie?
9 January - 12 February 2005
For the first time since 1999 the 5 Main Galleries of the RWA will be filled with work from the Academy’s own collection. A range of artwork from the last century and beyond will be on display to the public from January 9th 2005 until 12th February.

The RWA Collection consists of over 1200 art works ranging from the 19th Century to the 21st Century. This exhibition will focus predominantly on painters and will track various movements in painting during the end of the last century. Selected by Honorary Curator
Alfred Stockham “Alfie”, the exhibition will include many well-known painters such as Mary Fedden, Anne Redpath, Reg Gammon and Alethea Garstin.

The RWA Collection serves as a unique record of national and regional artistic heritage. It includes works from the
St Ives School and The Bloomsbury Group of painters, and work by Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant will feature in the exhibition..

This year the Arnolfini Collection Trust made a donation of paintings to the RWA Collection. Paintings from the Arnolfini Collection Trust, will be exhibited and will include
David Inshaw, John Loveless and John Birch.

A Private View will be held on Saturday 8th January from 2 pm – 5 pm.
