Gwavas Lake
The structure of the painting reflects the irregular configurations of the jagged rocks, over-washed by the tidal influence. The physicality of the method of painting interprets the texture and weight of the rock itself.

Both water-based paint and oil paint are used simultaneously, exploiting the natural characteristics of the material. In essence, nature is used to paint nature.

Although the work can sometimes be seen as non-figurative, every work in the series is the translation of a real place and is regarded by the artist as a representation of reality.
