Artist Jason Lane Title Dog Date 1998 object Sculpture Media reclaimed steel Size 135cm high Ref 895 Purchased from the RWA Open Sculpture Exhibition in 1999 Other websites featuring this artist's work www.jasonlane.org.uk Dog ‘Dog’ Is built from reclaimed steel. The majority of the components are agricultural implements as this piece was built shortly after moving to Bristol from Herefordshire. Its ribs are old strap hinges, its teeth respricating mower tynes, kneecaps stylish scaffold clamps collected when working in Italy and the steel bands around his neck are from part of the plumbing system from the old Brook Bond tea factory in Bristol. This is a static sculpture although I wanted it to look as if it would have a life of its own if the valves projecting from its stomach were opened. ‘Dog’ was first of a series of dogs, another was commissioned as a guard dog for the new Blaze castle café and visitors centre. back |
