China Clay Village
Frederick T.W. Cook was born in 1907 and spent much of his life painting harbour scenes and landscapes in the South West of England, particularly around Polperro and Newlyn.

Cook's painting are subtly atmospheric, making great play of light and space, reflections on water and the quietude of unhurried harbour life, figures only rarely populating his pictures which are made with quick, often broad, wet strokes. He has exhibited widely, including in St Ives, Newlyn and London. He passed away in 1982.
