A West Country House
Armstrong (1849-1920) was a Bristol-based painter and engraver who studied in Paris and exhibited in Paris, London, Berlin and Dusseldorf . He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and is represented in many international collections.

Armstrong would regularly take buccolic buildings and romantic landscapes as his themes, often using an impressionistic or immediate technique, many of his works actually painted in situ rather than from sketch studies in the studio.
