Cow considering the Stars and the Moon
This acrylic painting, on Windsor & Newton ‘not’ watercolour paper, 240lb, is one of a large number of cow paintings which currently run to 141 paintings of which 127 have been sold. The artist confesses to being a romantic who is influenced by Palaeolithic cave painting before 3000BC, where the artist has used the texture and colouration of the rock to add to the depiction of animals in charcoal mixed with fat on the cave wall.

In this painting a textural pattern has been developed all over the picture surface, blotting and splattering the paint until the image begins to manifest itself. Drawings of cows, made in the fields, are used in the creative process.
