Eyton Title Storm in Hong Kong Date 1982 object Painting Media oil Size 107 x 142cm Ref 740 Purchased in the RWA Spring Exhibition in 1986 Other websites featuring this artist's work www.rwa.org.uk/memfrm.htm Storm in Hong Kong A storm seems to release the imagination. Things and people are on the move and in a way the treatment in the picture follows. There is an undercurrent of danger and possible tragedy. The wind and rain come from the left bending over the palm trees. The flux contrasts to the stable columns and ferry building to Kowluon. It was also inspired by a violent storm in Nava, Japan. Colours glow in the doom while people seem to be totally disconnected with each other. back |
