Nude studies
Evan Charlton was a welsh artist noted for his realist works of peopled landscapes, akin in technique to those dreamy vistas of the Belgian surrealist painter Paul Delvaux. Born in 1904, he held the post of H M Inspector of Art in Wales
for many years while continuing to work and was a contemporary and friend of artists such as Ceri Richatds, Graham Sutherland, John Piper and Ivon Hitchens.

Charlton exhibited widely and has works in many public collections, including the Tate and the National Museum of Wales. He died in 1984.
