On the Edge
Until ‘On the Edge’, landscape was an oblique but primary source for my painted images. This is a painting in transition and the references to landscape are getting more tenuous, the colour less referential and the structure less reliant on a specific outdoor motif thereby freeing up the use of colour.

It starts and ends with colour/tone inventions, particularly the whites, and trusting my abilities to improvise a conclusion. Hopefully it has its own reality and a harmony that both satisfies and sings.
