This watercolour is painted on Saunders Waterford 300gsm paper, covering the whole sheet, which is then floated within a window mount, retaining the deckle edges of the paper as part of the image. The painting was made in the artist’s studio in London from notes and drawings made on the spot, and visual memories of the sparkling light diffused through semi-transparent tablecloths and curtains hanging on a quayside market stall where two lady tourists are engrossed choosing from the piles of colourful knitted cardigans back |
