The Abandoned Homestead
This particular etching was printed on handmade Arches paper of 140lb. It is one of an ongoing series of subjects including disused railway structures, farm buildings and worked-out quarries. Printing in black and white is not only a link with the tradition of printmaking, but I feel it helps to create the atmosphere and period embodied in such places.

Interest in the above mentioned places has been spurred on by the pressure to record them before being demolished or converted and their former function forgotten. Nostalgia for the life and people associated with these environs and my association with the South West region has been an element as to why I find inspiration in such subject matter.
