Osborne studied printmaking techniques under Sir Frank Short, at South Kensington School of Art. When Short retired in 1924, Osborne succeeded him as the Head of the etching and engraving school and from this position he taught many fine etchers, including Bouverie Hoyton and Geoffrey Wedgewood. Malcolm Osborne was a full member of the Royal Academy and President of the Royal Engravers. His peerless technique and draughtsmanship continues to make his work very popular with both modern day printers and collectors. Malcom Osborbe's work is held in many public collections around the world including the British Museum, The National Portrait Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Smitsonian Institute in Washington, The Berliner Kunstmuseum and Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. He spent much of his life living in London, close to where he taught and it was here that he died in 1963. back |
