For Tight Places
Peter Burke originally trained as an apprentice at the Rolls Royce aero-engines factory in Filton, Bristol. He went on from there to Art College and at length became a lecturer in Foundation Studies. Burke continued as a working sculptor during his teaching years and since the early nineties has solely devoted his time to his work as a sculptor, since when his work has developed a definitive and personal figurative style, his monumental outdoor works being reminiscent of an industrial impression of the human form writ large, reflecting and utilizing the industrial processes he learned in his youth.

Speaking to the BBC in early 2007, Burke commented that:

"Central to my work is the idea of the human presence,. I feel we have a predisposition to recognise and read the human
form with an intensity that accords to no other visual activity."

Considered by many critics to be Britain's leading figurative sculptor, Peter Burke exhibits widely both at home and abroad, his work being represented in both public and private collections world wide.
