The original idea was a simple still life. A mirror was moved across the studio and caught the reflection of the painter, the window and the light in the background, and the painting was born. The main influences on the painter in the 1980s were Cezanne and the disciplines of Fine Art handed down through the impressionists to Sickert and the London Group. The Art of drawing, composition, use of focal point tone and colour were considered important. back |
